Another fantastic post!

For me, I’ve had to shift toward reseeing quantitative data as surrogate or proxy indicators of that which I’m trying to achieve. The most notable place that happens for me is in my personal health. I used to get pretty bent out of shape when my resting heart rate wasn’t as low as I thought was desirable. I used to think this meant I needed to workout MORE so I could be in BETTER shape. I finally had to fully accept that what I actually needed was REST. A simple day of rest almost always yields a lower resting HR. Just a small, silly example…but possibly indicative of how numbers might signify something totally different from what you think it signifies.

Thank you for sharing your anecdotes - this is what I'm talking about! When did it become so difficult to listen to our bodies and prioritize rest when needed rather than pushing ourselves harder? Did we ever know how to listen to our bodies in the first place? Is the obsession with achievement a conscious choice or something we get caught up in? We (me and you both!) must recognize the importance of self-awareness in the pursuit of well-being.

You are brave indeed to make this career move - I want to learn more. We need to be coming from our why, our values, and connecting with our audience around what is meaningful and authentic to us. Many of us need the reminder to define our values for ourselves. Values guide decision-making and create authenticity and purpose in what we do.
